Quando si pensa al cibo e alla moda si possono immaginare, in un primo momento, due realtà in netto contrasto tra di loro. Se il mondo della moda spesso viene considerato il mondo dell’apparire ed è rappresentato da indossatrici e indossatori magrissimi, i quali difficilmente potremmo associare all’idea di buongustai, d’altro canto l’enogastronomia viene istintivamente legata ai momenti in cui godere, gustare, al soddisfacimento dei sensi. Esclusiva, dunque, di chi non ha preoccupazioni per la “linea”.

Come spesso accade, queste considerazioni superficiali non corrispondono del tutto alla realtà. Dietro al settore del fashion, infatti, c’è tanto duro e onesto lavoro, ci sono valori e contenuti e in Italia, in particolare, c’è il mantenimento di una tradizione sartoriale antica che si può considerare al pari di un’arte e dunque tutt’altro che frivola. D’altro canto il mondo del food ha dimostrato da tempo di non puntare sempre sulla quantità e, soprattutto quando si parla di alta cucina, la qualità e la creatività sono le chiavi essenziali nella creazione di un piatto o nella produzione di un buon vino.

Moda ed enogastronomia sono ancora le due eccellenze italiane nel mondo, anche in un periodo storico che vede il Bel Paese in crisi economica e sociale.

Con CandyValentino.it, voglio parlare di queste due eccellenze, che si trovano a contatto l’una con l’altra molto più spesso di quanto si immagini. Racconto nei miei articoli i luoghi in cui si producono la moda ed il cibo, attraverso itinerari di viaggio nelle regioni italiane. When you think about food and fashion, you can imagine, at first, two realities that are in stark contrast to each other. If the fashion world is often considered the world of “appearing” and is represented by skinny wearers and models, who we could hardly associate with the idea of gourmets, on the other hand, food and wine is instinctively linked to the moments in which to enjoy, to taste, to the satisfaction of the senses. Exclusive, therefore, for those who have no worries about the perfect body shape.

As often happens, these superficial considerations do not entirely correspond to reality. In fact, behind the fashion sector, there’s so much hard and honest work, there are values and contents and in Italy, in particular, there’s the maintenance of an ancient sartorial tradition that can be considered as an art. On the other hand, the world of food has long shown that it does not always focus on quantity and, especially when it comes to haute cuisine, quality and creativity are the essential keys in creating a dish or producing a good wine.

Fashion and food&wine are still the two Italian excellences in the world, even in a period of economic and social crisis reguarding Italy.

With Candy Valentino, I want to talk about these two excellences, which are in contact with each other much more often than imagined. I tell in my articles the places where fashion and food are produced, through travel itineraries in the Italian regions. All about Candy Valentino

Candy Valentino (real name Laura Mancini) is a writer, copywriter, journalist, blogger and press agent from Rome – Italy.

She began her experience with journalism while she was a student at the University La Sapienza and became editor in chief of the university newspaper. She practiced with a monthly newspaper of Rome and became a registered member of the Italian journalist association in 2006 and after that she wrote for several web magazines, beginning from the Italian Teatro.it – working as editor in chief for 4 years – passing through many “digital” and web jazz music magazines – until she became a drama and music critic for the National daily newspaper Il Giornale. Her international blog about art and live show is Moozart.

From 2015 until 2017 Laura wrote for the American webzine West 46th Magazine, beginning to sign her articles – produced both in Italian and English language – about music and fashion with the pseudonym Candy Valentino. She had the chance to follow the most important fashion shows and to interview many famous stylists as well as some very talented emerging artists of the fashion system. Her column “It’s in fashion” was based on the comparison between the Italian and international cultures and approach to fashion and focused on the ethical and ecological choices of many fashion companies.

In 2017 Candy created the new fashion brand Pupy, launching a collection of paintings for children’s garment. In the same year, CandyValentino.it blog was born.

On social networks and in particular on Instagram, she shares photos, videos and stories about her travels and tours through the regions of Italy, trying to bring her followers closer to Italian fashion and Italian food and wine.
